Light Box, Sculpture, Assemblage
Size: 110 W x 77 H x 12 D cm
is one of 23 light boxes from the first series created as part of the “HOTEL ANNELIE” project.
The project HOTEL ANNELIE was created in close proximity to a Munich hotel that once served as a refuge for the homeless, drug addicts, and social outsiders. Over the years, the artist worked closely with its residents, developing a multimedia work that brings together film, sculptures, light boxes, installations, and photography. The light sculptures form the core of the project: portraying the hotel’s residents as modern icons, inspired by Christian stained glass and incorporating objects from the building itself. Through their intricate technique, the light boxes create a dual effect – Caravaggio-like atmosphere in darkness, and vivid pop-art when illuminated. HOTEL ANNELIE thus becomes an archive suspended between documentation and fiction – and a powerful image of social transformation.
